This rumor was fueled by a strange story concerning the much-maligned Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Tom Henderson is one of many reporters and leakers who brought Vice City to the table.
After reinterpretations of Liberty City and Los Santos in the previous two mainline games, GTA 6 could bring back the last beloved location from the original trilogy from the 2000s. Rockstar's fictional version of Miami could make a return in the latest installment of the series. One of the first prominent theories was, that GTA 6 will see the return of Vice City. Rockstar Games have kept the setting of GTA 6 a complete secret so far but we have a slew of different rumors and leaks to work with again. So 2024-2025 seems to be the likeliest date for a release of GTA 6. Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, who is one of the most reliable sources of insider info in the video game industry, corroborated these details.
GTA Online is still so popular, that Rockstar would like to keep it running for a few more years before cutting into its success with the release of GTA 6.

Henderson claims that the game will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC exclusively, so Rockstar Games might want to wait until the chip-shortage has calmed down and more consoles become available. Rockstar changed their studio culture to have less crunch, meaning longer development time but better conditions for the team. There have been no shortage of rumors about GTA 6 over the years, ranging from this Vice City return to a 1980's era story. That's fine advice for all game leaks, really. Henderson caveats his own video multiple times, saying that all of the information should be taken "with a grain of salt". Other claims include that the game map will evolve or expand over time, possibly via DLC, and that one of the multiple playable characters will be a woman. The main big claims from Henderson's video are that expecting GTA 6 to launch in 2023 is likely premature (2024 or 2025 being more likely) and that it will be set in modern day Vice City-the GTA series analog for Miami.

There've been all sorts of GTA 6 rumors over the years, though new reports have now cropped up suggesting an eventual 2024 or 2025 launch date for the assumed GTA 6 and a modern Vice City setting. Rockstar still haven't actually announced their next crime 'em up in any official capacity, but most folks are operating under the assumption that they must be working on it. Another E3 has come and gone without Rockstar Games talking about Grand Theft Auto VI, but that sure hasn't stopped everyone else from chatting about it.
